REGION ONE COMMUNICATIONS

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Communications Chiefs for Region One ships and/or stations should be sending regular, monthly reports by the first of the month to the Communications RDC. A form on what to report is being devised, but at the moment it should include what items of interest are taking place in the department and on the ship or station. Items of general interest may be included in CHANNEL ONE, the Regional Newsletter.

CHANNEL ONE features news and items of interest to those STARFLEET members in Region One.

SUBSCRIPTION INFO:
CHANNEL ONE issues are available electronically for free. Inquiries can be addressed to the Publication Officer. CHANNEL ONE can also be downloaded from the Documents page.

REGION ONE ELECTRONIC LISTS

Region One has multiple electronic lists to provide news and information to Regional members.

For Region One Officers, Non-comm Officers, Enlisted crewmembers, any member of Region One, and also any member of SFI, the official general chat and Region One newslist is the R1-Briefing Room. R1_Briefing_Room@yahoogroups.com

For Regional Staff Members, COs, XOs, and/or chapter representatives only, there is R1-RCAB (r1-RCAB@weyr.org).

There also is an unofficial general chat list sponsored by Jay Leafey, formerly of Region One, the R1-Chat (r1-chat@weyr.org)

The R1-RCAB and R1-Chat lists can be subscribed to at http://mail.weyr.org. You will also be able to manage your subscriptions at this site.

REGION ONE IN CYBERSPACE

There are a number of channels available for IRC chatting via Fleetchat.org. Many chapters have their own channel and often hold online meetings via IRC. Some channels are available to everyone, such as the #r1-comm channel, the #r1-ncsc channel and the #starfleet channel. You can download an IRC client by going to www.mirc.com and downloading the latest versions.

There are several servers that are used to access Fleetchat.org. They are:
destiny.fleetchat.org (Direct IP Address: 209.178.198.91)
karma.fleetchat.org (Direct Address: 198.145.45.5)


All connections are port 6667
Set your connect time (if available) to 45-60 seconds
From there, just type /join [#name of channel]

Please be aware that server names and direct IP addresses may change.
